ABOUT CAMP MICHI-MAC AAFA-MI along with the Michigan Allergy and Asthma Society (MAAS) established Camp Michi-MAC in 1980. At that time, it was only the 4th camp of it's kind in the United States. The camp was created specifically for children with significant asthma who are on daily medication, and who might be at risk attending "regular" camp. Campers can swim boat and ride horses and have a "regular" camp experience because the medical team, who are on site 24-hours a day, understands asthma and allergies, triggers and proper treatment. The medical staff includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists.
Children with significant asthma or allergies entering grades 3-8 can apply for a chance to attend camp for a one week period. The cost of operating Camp Michi-MAC is defrayed by the generous support of parents and caregivers, Asthma and Allergy Foundation of American-Michigan Chapter (AAFA-MI), Michigan Allergy and Asthma Society (MAAS), and community support.
