Jean Mullins Yonke, PhD, was an activist who worked tirelessly on a
range of issues including asthma and allergies in the greater Lansing
community. Ms. Yonke was a board member of AAFA-MI for many
years and served as recording secretary for the organization. Her
untimely death left us bereft. Her dedication to improving the lives of
those with asthma will surely be missed.
To honor Jean’s dedication and accomplishments, we have established
the Jean Mullins Yonke Memorial Scholarship. Special consideration is
given to students with asthma living in the Lansing area, but all
students with asthma are encouraged to apply.
Each year, we offer two scholarships (usually $250.00 each) to
deserving students. It is our intention to increase the award amount in
the future as we continue to raise funds in Jean’s honor.
Students who are completing their junior year of high school in the
summer are eligible to apply. Applications are available from the
Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America – Michigan Chapter or by
clicking on the forms below.
2008-09 Application Deadlines To Be Announced Soon!
We would appreciate any help you can give us by identifying students
who meet our criteria and encouraging them to apply. We gladly
accept donations to the scholarship fund. Should you or the students
