Listed below are the current Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America - Michigan
Chapter, educational and training programs.

Asthma and Allergy Essentials for Child Care Providers©a new asthma
and allergy education program for child care providers. AAFA-MI  has trainer across the state for
this program.  Includes Asthma Action card to be used for each child.

Asthma Basics and Control for Families©(AB&C) - Program is for
parents/caregivers who have children aged 0-6; presented in a group setting.  
     
Asthma Management and Education©training for health professionals who
educate and care for patients with asthma.  Presented by trained allied health professionals.  
CEU's available.

Emerging Science in Asthma & Allergy Management  Our annual medical
symposium highlighting the latest science.  Held in March.  CME/CEU's available.

Workplace Health Programs arrange a workshop or lecture with our RN-Asthma
Educator.  Programs are designed to meet all levels of knowledge and risk.   

Wee Wheezers & Wee Wheezers At Homea group or home setting course
designed to teach parents of children under age 7 to recognize, prevent, and manage asthma
symptoms. Parents learn about resources for information, support, and how to communicate
with caretakers and physicians. A validated program demonstrated through formal research to
be an effective educational intervention and recognized by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

Asthma Care Training for Kids (ACT) ©a patient education program to help
children ages 7-12 and their parents learn how to control asthma.  Training needed to conduct
program.

Power Breathing Programa patient education program designed especially for
teens living with asthma.  AAFA-MI trainers needed to conduct program.

You Can Control Asthmaeasy to read books on asthma created for and tested with
young, low-literacy patients and their families.

Health Fairs, Community Events, and Lecturesour staff & volunteers
includes doctors, RN’s and asthma educators.  We can attend your event and provide  
programs specially designed for your audience.

Also available are printed materials to help asthma and allergy patients
and their families understand and control their asthma and improve
their quality of life (we have several bilingual versions).  Including:

  • Student Action Cards for both school and preschool completed by parents
    and physicians on the asthmatic child to help schools and child care
    providers handle the student’s special health needs

  • Quick Asthma and Allergy Cards give quick reference to life-saving
    information about asthma and allergies (includes:  Peak-flow meter,
    Spacers, Epipen, and Anaphylaxis)

  • Brochures on all topics surrounding asthma and allergy issues

  • Free Newsletters to our national, bi-monthly newsletter, FreshAAIR, our
    newsletter for teens, AAIRwaves, and our newsletter for educational support

Sleep Work Play™ and for young adults Sleep Learn Play™ is a program
to help patients recognize that interruptions of their sleep work, school
or play are not inevitable aspects of living with asthma and that improved
communications with care-givers can lead to improved outcomes.
